208. Deputy Kevin Humphreys asked the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation his plans to redesign the website of his Department to make it more appealing and user friendly; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12036/14]
Amharc ar fhreagraSince September last, work has been ongoing in my Department, with the assistance of consultants who were selected following a competitive tendering process, for the purpose of redesigning the Department’s website. My Department’s objective is to develop a more user friendly website which will give customers enhanced access to the services provided by the Department. As is currently the position with its existing website, the Department recognises the importance of ensuring that its new website will be available to all of its customers by conforming with web content accessibility guidelines. It will also be taking steps to ensure that, in accordance with the Official Languages Act 2003, the objective of which is to ensure better availability and a higher standard of public services through Irish, the new website will continue to contain an appropriate amount of content in Irish. It is proposed to launch the new website later this year.
