191. Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the steps he has taken to ensure that processors have passed on the increase in the unregistered farmers VAT rebate to their farmer suppliers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15461/14]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe farmer’s flat-rate addition of VAT was increased from 4.8% to 5% with effect from 1 January 2014 as announced in the budget. The flat-rate scheme compensates unregistered farmers for VAT incurred on their farming inputs, and is reviewed annually in accordance with the EU VAT Directive. Compliance with tax legislation is however a matter for the Office of Revenue Commissioners.
