982. Deputy Terence Flanagan asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he plans to meet senior management from Irish Rail to discuss the upgrade of rolling stock; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22814/14]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. Issues relating to the upgrade of rolling stock are in the first instance commercial matters for the Board and Management of Iarnród Éireann. I have received no request from Iarnród Éireann for capital funding for such an upgrade and there are no funds available for it in the capital plan to 2016.
