540. Deputy Joe Costello asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if the strategic development zone in the North Lotts and Grand Canal Harbour will qualify for the 1% for art scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27262/15]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe provision of art works associated with capital projects funded through my Department’s capital programmes is a matter primarily for the relevant local authority. Details in relation to the scheme are available on the Publications page of my Department's website at www.environ.ie/en/LocalGovernment/PublicArt/. The allocation for the provision of art works under the Artistic Embellishment Scheme should be calculated on the basis of the overall construction cost of an individual project. A Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) itself is not a "project" in the context of the Scheme. Therefore, it would be a matter for the relevant local authority to consider whether there is a project within the SDZ area that might meet the requirements of the scheme.
