405. Deputy Ruairí Quinn asked the Minister for Defence if he will ensure that the Rathmines College football team continues to have free access to the football pitch at Cathal Brugha Barracks, as has been the case for a number of years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [34163/15]
Amharc ar fhreagraIt is the policy of the Department of Defence to charge a minimal fee for the use by organisations of Defence Forces facilities. The playing pitch in Cathal Brugha Barracks is used on a regular basis by several local schools and clubs who pay an annual fee for the use of the facilities. I am aware that a request for the use of the playing pitch has been received in my Department from Rathmines College . I have been advised that my officials have been in contact with the College in recent days to discuss their requirements with them with a view to reaching agreement on the use of the playing pitch.
