Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality if she has used a private email account (details supplied) for official business in her role as Minister for Justice and Equality; if she still uses the private email account for official business; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe Deputy will wish to be aware that access for all staff to web based emails is restricted by security infrastructure deployed by the Department of Justice and Equality. The Department provides a secure remote access service to staff who require access to Departmental systems including emails outside of work hours.
I use my Departmental email address to conduct official business related to my role. In addition, I also operate an Oireachtas email account which is primarily used by my constituency office. Like most people, I also have a personal email account and I have on a small number of occasions in the past used this address in relation to my work.
