Deputy Catherine Martin asked the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government if it was his plan when setting the terms of reference of the Cork local government implementation oversight group that the boundary of Cork City Council would be altered in line with the recommendations of the Cork expert advisory group. The Cork Local Government Implementation Oversight Group was established to oversee arrangements for the alteration of the boundary between the respective areas of jurisdiction of Cork City Council and Cork County Council, in light of the recommendation in the report of the Cork Expert Advisory Group.
The group’s first task is to present a detailed Implementation Plan, and to engage with the two local authorities, with a view to developing detailed and comprehensive proposals for the boundary alteration and to ultimately oversee the implementation of agreed recommendations.
The detailed implementation plan is anticipated in the coming weeks, the output from which I will consider in due course.
