267. Deputy Barry Cowen asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the status of the Irish Coast Guard under the 2006 framework for a major emergency event, that is, whether it is a principal emergency service; and if so, the principal agency it falls under. [4716/18]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Irish Coast Guard is designated as a principal emergency service under the Framework for Emergency Management and is part of the Irish Maritime Administration of the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport. It does not fall under any of the three Principal Response Agencies which are An Garda Síochána, the Health Service Executive and the Local Authorities.
