The Social Welfare Appeals Office functions independently of the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection and of the Department and is responsible for determining appeals against decisions in relation to social welfare entitlements.
I am advised by the Chief Appeals Officer that there were 269 state pension (contributory) and 221 state pension (non-contributory) appeals on hands at the end of January 2018.
