374. Deputy Frank O'Rourke asked the Minister for Education and Skills the status of an application for funding for an extension or a new build for a school (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15485/18]
Amharc ar fhreagraI can confirm that my Department has received an application for major capital funding from the school referred to by the Deputy. The application will be considered in the context of my Department's current priority which is the provision of essential classroom accommodation in areas where significant demographic need has been established to ensure that each child will have access to a physical school place.
My Department's Capital Programme (2016-2021) continues to address the challenges posed by the significant bulge in pupil enrolments going through our schools. This has seen a significant expansion in the rate of provision of new school places. The Capital Programme details the school projects that are being progressed through the architectural planning process, which includes building projects for schools in the area to which the Deputy refers.
