198. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection if the refusal to award an exceptional needs payment in the case of a person (details supplied) will be reviewed; if the matter will be urgently investigated with a view to addressing at early date; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe person concerned made an application for an Exceptional Needs Payment for assistance with insufficient funds and travel costs. The application was refused on the 15/5/2018 as the person’s means are in excess of the Supplementary Welfare Allowance rate.
The request for a review has been acknowledged and the process has been initiated.
I hope this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
