250. Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government the number of applications from Galway City Council and Galway County Council, respectively, for funding and permission to refurbish local authority properties; the date the applications were received; the reason for the delay in making a decision on the applications; when a decision will issue regarding the applications; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department provides funding under the Voids Programme to assist local authorities in bringing vacant local authority housing stock back to productive use. Earlier this year, local authorities, including Galway City and County Councils, submitted to my Department details of their work proposals and related funding requirements for this programme in 2018. These proposals are currently been evaluated and funding allocations will be confirmed to the local authorities shortly.
