87. Deputy Maurice Quinlivan asked the Minister for Education and Skills if the €8 million in funding for institutes of technology to support apprenticeships announced on 11 June 2018 is new additional funding or part of the previously announced apprenticeship budget; and if he will make a statement on the matter. On 11 June I announced the allocation €8 million in Exchequer capital funding to Institutes of Technology for the purchase of equipment and enabling works for apprenticeship training. This allocation is separate and additional to the €122 million in current funding for apprenticeship allocated in 2018 from the National Training Fund.
