449. Deputy Pat The Cope Gallagher asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine further to Parliamentary Question No. 981 of 12 June 2018, if no legal costs have been paid or agreed in relation to the various third parties involved in proceedings against the State regarding the High Court and Supreme Court cases on actions taken in regard to SI 3 of 2014 and SI 125 of 2016; the complete costs incurred by the State in those cases; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The costs paid to date in the cases arising from the operation of the European Communities (Common Fisheries Policy)(Point System) Regulations 2014 (SI 3 of 2014) are as set out in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 981 of 12 June 2018. As previously advised, no cases arose from the operation of SI 125 of 2016.

I also indicated in that reply that certain matters pertaining to costs have yet to be finalised in a number of relevant cases. That remains the position. The Deputy will appreciate that it can frequently take some time post the conclusive determination of legal proceedings for matters pertaining to legal costs to be completely finalised.
