127. Deputy Michael McGrath asked the Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation the number of positions on the board in respect of the board of agencies and commercial State companies under her Department’s aegis in tabular form; the quorum required for a board meeting; the number of ministerial appointee vacancies on the board to date; the length of time the ministerial appointee vacancy has been present for each vacancy; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The process for selection of Ministerial appointees to boards of agencies is managed by the Public Appointments Service in accordance with the Guidelines on Appointments to State Boards that is published by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform.

* One member retired from the EI Board in mid-2017. Following his retirement, significant consideration has been given to what additional experience and skills would most benefit the EI Board at this time. It is expected that the process for appointing a new board member will be concluded by the end of Q3 2018.

** Two of these vacancies will shortly be filled as the Minister has informed the Public Appointment Service of her decision on the successful applicants and a formal process to appoint these members to the Board is underway
