Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the number of members of the Defence Forces that are receiving working family payments; the overall annual cost of these payments to members of the Defence Forces; the largest sum paid to a member of the Defence Forces in the past year for which figures are available; and the average sum paid. Amharc ar fhreagraWorking Family Payment (WFP) is a weekly tax-free payment which provides additional income support to employees on low earnings with children. WFP is designed to prevent in-work poverty for low paid workers with child dependents and to offer a financial incentive to take up employment.
