209. Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the number of parliamentary questions his Department has processed in the past three years to date; the number of questions answered directly; the number of questions referred to bodies or agencies under the aegis of his Department for direct reply; the number of staff who are assigned to his parliamentary questions section; and if non-departmental staff, advisers and-or public affairs and relations companies have composed parliamentary question replies or had an act or hand in forming parliamentary question replies in the timeframe specified. The information sought by the Deputy is voluminous in nature and will take time to collate. Accordingly, a full reply to this PQ will issue within 10 working days.

There is 1.25 staff members assigned to the Parliamentary Questions Section in my Department.
Non-Departmental staff, public affairs and relations companies have not composed Parliamentary Question replies or had a hand in forming replies. The Special Advisers to the Minister may of course advise the Minister from time to time in relation to Parliamentary Questions in accordance with their role under section 11 of the Public Service Management Act 1997 which includes assisting the Minister by providing advice to him or her.
