546. Deputy Catherine Martin asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his plans to better regulate for the provision of contraflow cycle lanes on one-way roads as is common in Belgium and other jurisdictions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2571/19]
Amharc ar fhreagraThere are already a number of contraflow cycle lanes in operation across Dublin City and elsewhere in the country. There are currently no plans to change the legal basis for these lanes as laid out in the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations 1997 (as amended) and underpinned by the appropriate Road Traffic (Signs) Regulations, The provision of such infrastructure, in accordance with that legislation, remains the responsibility of the local authorities.
