209. Deputy Charlie McConalogue asked the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment his views on the confirmation he gave that a carbon target for agriculture will be set (details supplied); the discussions he had in this regard; and the impact on Food Wise 2025 targets. [6230/19]
Amharc ar fhreagraUnder the EU Effort Sharing Regulation, Ireland’s greenhouse gas emissions targets for 2021 to 2030 in the non-ETS sector can be represented in the form of a ‘carbon budget’ for emissions from relevant sectors of the economy, including transport, agriculture, buildings and waste. Potential approaches to the future setting of sectorial targets to enable the achievement of Ireland's EU Effort Sharing Regulation targets are being considered as part of the All-of-Government Climate Action Plan which I am currently preparing.
