Deputy Mattie McGrath asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if his attention has been drawn to cost overruns on contracts within his Department with a value in excess of €10 million that came in more than 10% over budget in each of the years 2016 to 2018, inclusive, and to date in 2019; if so, the details of same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraI wish to advise the Deputy that no contracts with a value in excess of €10 million within my Department have come in more than 10% over budget from 2016 to date.
I have been made aware of a projected cost increase on a capital project under the aegis of Horse Racing Ireland. This project is partially funded from private sector contributions and I am assured that it will not result in any additional call on capital funding from my Department.
