146. Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to evidence provided in early January 2019 by a person (details supplied) at a constructive dismissal case taken against the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, NMBI; and the steps he will take to investigate the allegations. Responsibility for ensuring that the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland complies with its statutory and governance obligations, including those of employment law, rests with the Board.

I understand that the constructive dismissal case to which the Deputy refers was considered by the Labour Court. In that regard, the Labour Court is an independent, statutory body. Given its statutory independence, it would be inappropriate for me to intervene when the Labour Court exercises its quasi-judicial functions in relation to industrial relations disputes or employment law complaints.
