Tuesday, 26 February 2019

Ceisteanna (563)

Richard Boyd Barrett

Ceist:

563. Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his views on whether it is acceptable that Bus Éireann requires at least 24 hours' notice for disability access; if public transport should be accessible at all times under the EU directives; and the steps he is taking to ensure that bus stations that have been given at least 24 hours' notice will have the facility to offer the service in commuter towns such as Ballyshannon, County Donegal. As Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport.

Under the Dublin Transport Authority Act 2008, the National Transport Authority (NTA) has statutory responsibility for promoting the development of an integrated, accessible public transport network.

In light of the NTA's responsibilities in this matter, I have forwarded your questions to the NTA for direct reply to you. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within ten working days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Order 42A
