Ceist:

535. Deputy John Brady asked the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection if she will consider extending the three year rule for those aged over 55 years of age engaged in community employment in which they are providing a service in their community that otherwise would not be available; if there is discretion in such cases; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, the Government agreed to establish an Interdepartmental Group (IDG) to explore how these social inclusion schemes might best be organised into the future including which Department should hold lead responsibility for sponsoring CE schemes focused on social Inclusion.  The deliberations of the group will inform any further consideration to review participation limits including those who are over 55 in conjunction with other labour market issues that should inform any decision on participation limits on active labour market programmes.
