574. Deputy Michael Healy-Rae asked the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government if a matter will be addressed regarding the condition of a hand rail at a location (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10259/19]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, I have responsibility for policy, legislation and Oireachtas accountability in respect of the local government system. I also have policy responsibility in relation to certain functions and services of local authorities, particularly in areas such as housing, but local authorities also operate a range of functions within the policy, legislative and funding frameworks of other Government Departments. In this regard, while I have no function in the matter raised, I understand that Kerry County Council received grant funding from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine to carry out repairs at Brandon Pier in 2014.
