1063. Deputy Robert Troy asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the status of the heavy rail enhancement programme; the planned expenditure under the programme over the coming years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12719/19]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. The National Transport Authority (NTA) has statutory responsibility for the development and implementation of public transport including the heavy rail enhancement programme which, as the Deputy is aware, comprises funding through the NTA to Iarnród Éireann in relation to a number of rail projects.
