Deputy Catherine Martin asked the Minister for Education and Skills the situation regarding the building project for a new school (details supplied) in Dublin 15; if capital funding has been ring-fenced; when the new building will be open; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraA major building project for the school referred to by the Deputy is included in my Department’s 6 year Construction Programme. The project when complete will provide for a 1,000 pupil and a 4 classroom Special Needs Unit.
The school will be delivered under my Department's Design & Build Programme. This delivery programme uses a professional external Project Manager to progress the project through the relevant stages of architectural planning and construction.
A tender competition to establish a Project Manager framework is nearing completion. When appointed, the Project Manager will lodge an application for Planning Permission and progress the project through the relevant stages of architectural planning, tender and construction.
