39. Deputy Catherine Connolly asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if his attention has been drawn to ongoing research undertaken by NUI Galway with EU funding on antibiotic resistant bacteria in the sea around County Galway; the actions being taken further to the findings; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am advised that NUI Galway is undertaking research in relation to antibiotic resistant bacteria which is being carried out with the support of the Environmental Protection Agency.

As my Department is not involved in the project, I do not have any comments on the matter at this stage.
