240. Deputy Joan Burton asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if he has carried out an audit in relation to the number of public buildings that may require retrofitting; if so, the expected cost to the State; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28292/19]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Commissioners of Public Works carry out refurbishment works on State property on a regular basis to meet new requirements as they arise. Also, as building services and fit outs reach end of life, properties are targeted for refurbishment. This form of retrofitting would also upgrade the property to meet modern standards in terms of the Building Regulations and energy efficiency. The number and costs of such projects undertaken in any given year varies depending on availability of funding.
