Anne Rabbitte

Ceist:

607. Deputy Anne Rabbitte asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the mechanism used to calculate the price paid to landowners for the construction of national roads when the lands are acquired through a compulsory purchase order; the reason there is a discrepancy for such payments nationally; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport, I have responsibility for overall policy and funding in relation to the national roads programme.  Under the Roads Acts 1993-2015, the planning, design, construction and associated compulsory purchase of lands for individual national roads is a matter for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), in conjunction with the local authorities concerned.

Noting the above position, I have referred the question to TII for a direct reply.  Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Order 42A
