45. Deputy Jack Chambers asked the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence if networks in his Department have been subjected to cyberattacks in the past 12 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30521/19]
Amharc ar fhreagraCyberattacks are a constant threat to organisations across the globe, including the Department of Defence. These attacks represent challenges that are constantly evolving and require vigilance and appropriate responses. The nature of any cyberattack and the potential impact also varies considerably depending on the approach and objective of those with malicious intent. Cybersecurity is multifaceted and my Department has implemented a defence-in-depth approach using best in class technologies to mitigate against such attacks. For security and operational reasons, it would not be appropriate for me to comment further on such cyber security matters.
