Deputy Michael McGrath asked the Minister for Finance his plans regarding the worldwide harmonised light vehicle procedure test phase 2 with regard to VRT on vehicles; his further plans to widen the VRT bands for 2020 in order to avoid significant increases in the price of vehicles for consumers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Deputy Eamon Scanlon asked the Minister for Finance his plans to address concerns that VRT will be increased in budget 2020; his views on the fact that the last major upheaval of VRT cost the motor industry tens of thousands of jobs and saw more than 150 long-standing family businesses close; his further views as to whether sudden taxation changes will cost jobs and slow down the drive to reduce emissions from transport; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
