178. Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Finance the number of protected disclosures for which he has engaged an external consultancy and-or legal firm, since 2014; the names of the firms engaged; the year and the costs associated with engaging the consultancy and-or legal firms in respect of protected disclosures; the way in which persons are protected in cases in which an external consultancy firm is engaged in respect of protected disclosures; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can advise the Deputy that since the introduction of the Protected Disclosures Act 2014, my Department has not engaged any external consultancy and or legal firms in respect of protected disclosures.

The Deputy may wish to note that as required under Section 22 of the Act, the number of protected disclosures received in the Department in the previous year is published on the Department's website at the following link - https://www.gov.ie/en/organisation-information/32ddef-protected-disclosures.
