215. Deputy John Lahart asked the Minister for Finance the plans he has considered to offset the anticipated significant reduction in excise duty and other fuel taxes as a consequence of the increase in electric car sales uptake; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [33375/19]
Amharc ar fhreagraThough the number of electric vehicles on Irish roads make up a very small portion of the current fleet, I am aware of ambitious targets to increase these numbers as set out in the Cliamte Action Plan. Increased uptake of electric vehicles, in substitution for internal combustion engine vehicles, will impact on revenues the exchequer receives through fuel taxation.
