677. Deputy Mary Lou McDonald asked the Minister for Justice and Equality when he will publish the final terms of reference for the scoping exercise into matters relating to the death of a person (details supplied). [31976/19]
Amharc ar fhreagraTo begin, I wish to draw the Deputy’s attention to my response to question number 139 of 4 July 2019 where I outlined the current situation regarding the status of the scoping exercise.
In my reply, I advised that following the submission of Judge Haughton’s proposed changes to the terms of reference, which stemmed from his meetings with the O’Farrell family, I had sought the advice of the Attorney General on these changes. These advices have been under examination with Department officials with a view to finalising the terms of reference and formally commencing the scoping exercise.
These examinations are currently in their latter stages and I hope to have them completed shortly. As soon as the final terms of reference are agreed, Judge Haughton will be in a position to advise the family as to their content and begin his important work. The terms of reference will be published on my Department's website.
