Deputy Seán Haughey asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the number of cars (details supplied) that failed the NCT on the basis of a throttle control fault alone to date in 2019; the number of these cars that subsequently underwent a retest and passed when the test was carried out at a higher rev in 2019, in view of the advice of the manufacturer; the date on which his attention and that of the NCT service was first drawn to the issue; the policy of the NCT service in relation to the issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
