Deputy Thomas Byrne asked the Minister for Education and Skills if payments have been made to13 applicants whose application for a payment from the ex-gratia scheme was previously refused by the SCA on the sole ground that they failed to furnish evidence of a prior complaint. Compensation payments are being made to a number of victims of child sexual abuse in day schools on foot of the assessments made by the Independent Assessor to the ex gratia scheme, Mr. Justice Iarfhlaith O'Neill. The current position is that sixteen offers of payment have been made and, to date, seven have been accepted.
