Deputy Jan O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will exercise his power under the Roads Act 1993 to designate the R132 as a national route in view of the status of the road at Julianstown, County Meath, as the 16th busiest; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraSection 10 of the Roads Act 1993 as amended by Roads Act 2007 provides for the classification of national, regional and local roads and as such periodic reviews are undertaken in that regard.
As regards the possible re-classification of the R132 as a National Route, I have not received a request from Meath County Council for the re-classification of the route.
