Deputy Shane Cassells asked the Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation the number of employees of her Department that were dismissed in each of the years 2016 to 2018 and to date 2019; the reason for the dismissal of each employee; the number of employees suspended in the same period; and the reason for the suspension of each in tabular form. Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department operates within the Civil Service policy framework for Human Resources, and in this regard it carries out its functions in accordance with the circulars and policies set down by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform.
I have provided information in the statistical table below relevant to my Department.
It should however be noted, that the specific reason for the sanction / action is personal information relevant to the individual concerned and it is the Department’s practice not to share such information to ensure that confidentiality is protected. The sanction / action would however broadly relate to some kind of misconduct as defined under the Disciplinary Code, or relate to an officer not meeting the departmental requirements in respect of satisfactory performance / attendance under the Guidelines on Probation.
