57. Deputy Jack Chambers asked the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence the amount spent on bottled water and disposable coffee cups by his Department to date in 2019; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [48187/19]
Amharc ar fhreagraDrinking water in the Department of Defence is provided primarily through filtered water coolers. A number of water dispensers which use the large 19 litre reusable water containers are provided in conference rooms. As a general rule, the Department does not provide water in individual plastic or glass bottles. To date, in 2019, expenditure by the Department of Defence on water (19 litre Water dispenser containers) and disposable cups is €833.58. Following the publication of the Climate Action Plan 2019, by the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment, the Department of Defence has ceased to use single use plastic cups and only uses either reusable or compostable cups for tea/coffee and water.
