592. Deputy Tom Neville asked the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection further to Parliamentary Question No. 478 of 26 November 2019, if the files will be further reviewed (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [50269/19]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe person concerned has been awarded disability allowance (DA) with effect from 15 May 2019 when their application was received by my Department. The first payment was made by her chosen payment method on 17 October 2019.
The person concerned signed and dated her DA application on 30 October 2018. However unless backdating is requested, applications for DA are considered from the date of receipt in this office which in this lady's case was 14 May 2019.
If the person concerned wishes to request backdating of her DA she may do so in writing, clearly stating the reasons for the delay in submitting her application.
I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
