Following the suspension of the Northern Ireland Executive in 2017, the North South Ministerial Council was not able to meet and to exercise its role in appointing board members, chairs and vice-chairs to the Boards of the North South Implementation bodies and Tourism Ireland. In December 2019, the terms of four Southern Directors of Tourism Ireland, including that of the Chairperson, expired. The Executive has subsequently been re-established in Northern Ireland and it is expected that this matter will shortly be resolved by the resumption of the NSMC.
