Deputy Robert Troy asked the Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation the funding the Health and Safety Authority spent on all safety initiatives; the number of inspections it carried out in each of the years 2016 to 2019 and to date in 2020, in tabular form; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Health and Safety Authority operates across a broad mandate in the areas of occupational health and safety, chemicals, accreditation, as well as market surveillance of products.

The Health and Safety Authority works to an Annual Programme of Work which is approved by the Board of the Authority. The majority of it's planned Safety Initiatives in any given year focus primarily on the high risk sectors such as construction and farming.
