Deputy Michael Healy-Rae asked the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht when a woodland (details supplied) will reopen; the steps the NPWS is taking in this regard; when work will commence on a new carpark and access route for the area; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraKillarney National Park has remained open to the public throughout the response to Covid-19. With regard to the works referenced in details supplied, NPWS has secured €500K under the Outdoor Recreational Infrastructure Scheme in order to improve public access, including a new car park. The contract tendering process is nearing completion and it is intended to commence works in the coming weeks with a view to completion by the end of the year (weather permitting).
