Deputy Aindrias Moynihan asked the Minister for Education the number of engagements that have taken place with the landowner of a proposed new school site (details supplied) since July 2020; if there has been engagement with the council planners; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe building project for Gaelscoil an Chaisleain is included in my Department's capital programme. Officials in my Department continue to liaise with officials in Cork City Council in relation to the acquisition of a suitable site for the school. Negotiations with the landowner in respect of the preferred site option to accommodate the school are ongoing.
While a site acquisition process is underway, and given the commercial sensitivities associated with land acquisitions generally, I am not in a position to comment further at this time. However, I can assure the Deputy my Department is committed to delivering a suitable site for Gaelscoil an Chaisleain and work is ongoing to achieve this as soon as possible.
