Ceisteanna (85)

Catherine Murphy

Ceist:

85. Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Transport his plans to make Irish Rail carriage numbers more visible to assist persons identifying the carriages they are on in order to report antisocial behaviour to Irish Rail; if his attention has been drawn to the difficulty those with a visual impairment face in viewing these carriage numbers by virtue of their location and size. As the Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. However, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport.

The issue raised is an operational matter for Iarnród Éireann and I have forwarded the Deputy's question to the company for direct reply.

I ask the Deputy to advise my private office if she does not receive a response within 10 working days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Order 51
