Ceisteanna (82)

Jackie Cahill

Ceist:

82. Deputy Jackie Cahill asked the Minister for Transport if the morning train timetable from Dublin to Cork will be reviewed in view of the fact that the first train in the morning does not arrive in Cork until approximately 9.30 am, which is of little use to those commuting for work or education purposes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. However, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport.

The issue raised is a matter for the National Transport Authority (NTA), in conjunction with Iarnród Éireann, and I have forwarded the Deputy's question to the NTA for direct reply.

Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within ten working days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Order 51
