Deputy Denise Mitchell asked the Minister for Transport if a person changing from a UK to an Irish driver licence has the option to maintain their place of birth as Ireland despite being born in Northern Ireland given the fact they are an Irish citizen; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraIn general, the details to be recorded on a driving licence in an EU member state are set out in the relevant Directive which is transposed into Irish law by primary and secondary legislation. Among the details to be recorded are the date and place of birth. The implementation of the relevant law is an operational matter for the Road Safety Authority.
