707. Deputy Carol Nolan asked the Minister for Health the number of full-time equivalent general practitioners operating in County Laois in 2019, 2020 and to date in 2021; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8109/21]
Amharc ar fhreagraGPs are private practitioners, most of whom hold a contract with the HSE for the provision of medical services. The number of doctors who provide general practitioner services to patients exclusively on a private basis is not collected by my Department or the HSE. As of the start of this month, 3,024 GPs hold a contract with the HSE for the provision of medical services. I have asked the HSE to reply directly to the Deputy regarding the number of HSE contracted GPs operating in County Laois for the dates concerned.
