Deputy Carol Nolan asked the Minister for Finance the details of the meetings, correspondence and engagements he and his officials have had with a group (details supplied); if he will specifically address the concerns outlined by the group; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraI wish to advise the Deputy that the only engagement that I or my officials have had with the Independent Scientific Advocacy Group (ISAG) relates to correspondence from the ISAG in December 2020 regarding the national response to Covid-19. The correspondence was primarily addressed to the Taoiseach and I was one of a number of recipients copied on the letter.
While the majority of the proposals in the correspondence from the ISAG related to public health policy and were therefore a matter for the Minister for Health, I replied to the ISAG specifically in relation to the issues raised on the economic consequences of the public health restrictions. A copy of the correspondence from the ISAG and my response are attached for your information.
