Ceisteanna (1845)

Claire Kerrane

Ceist:

1845. Deputy Claire Kerrane asked the Minister for Health his views on the new payment system put in place for long-stay charges in residential homes run by an organisation (details supplied) in 2017; the reason these payment rates have almost doubled; the reason the payments vary depending on a nurse being on duty in cases in which the nurse is already paid for being on duty; the reason for the cost; the purpose for which the cost is used; the areas to which the costs are directed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Government is committed to providing services and supports for people with disabilities which will empower them to live independent lives, provide greater independence in accessing the services they choose, and enhance their ability to tailor the supports required to meet their needs and plan their lives.

As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
